Enhancing energy efficiency and conserving ecosystems are crucial for sustainable development and require close cooperation among BRICS countries. The working group will seek to strengthen dialogue and coordinate efforts to tackle global challenges such as energy security, the transition to clean energy, climate change mitigation and adaptation, and the promotion of a circular economy. Key strategic areas include education and capacity building for the energy transition, innovation in sustainable solutions, efficient resource management, and policies that drive green growth.

Head of External Relations, Vale
Luciana Brum has joined Vale in 2011 and has been holding leadership positions in the External Affairs department since 2019. In 2024 she became Head of External Affairs, leading the teams in Brazil, China, Oman and Malaysia. Luciana specializes in International Affairs, engaging in jurisdiction risk analysis, government relations and advocacy in support of Vale’s global projects and operations. Her work is focused on strengthening the company’s dialogue with strategic international stakeholders.
Luciana has a background in mainstream media and joined the company in 2011 as a Communications officer, with experience and achievements ranging from employee engagement to external brand positioning. Between 1999 and 2010, Luciana worked for major Brazilian and global media outlets, writing for newspapers O Dia and O Globo, in Rio de Janeiro, and for the Spanish news agency EFE, based in Shanghai, China.
Luciana has a BA in Communication from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and a master’s degree in journalism from the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, in Madrid. Luciana also has post-graduate studies in Management for Sustainability at the Fundação Dom Cabral (FDC), in Belo Horizonte-MG, Brazil, and International Relations at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-RJ)
